What is the scientific method?

The scientific method is a method used by all scientists around the world that has characterised the development of science. It involves careful observation(s) and skepticism about what is observed. It is a procedure which includes multiple steps and very detailed observations.

This is the procedure all scientists follow in order to get accurate results. Let’s start!

We start the method by asking a question or having an observation. Let’s make the question be…

It’s RESEARCH TIME! Doing research will allow you to construct your hypothesis (the next step).

Make sure to go to multiple different websites, so you can create an accurate hypothesis!

After doing research, it is time to create a hypothesis! Remember, a hypothesis is an educated guess. It must be clear and to the point!

Lets make our hypothesis..

It’s time to experiment!

It seems like the experiment worked! But if it didn’t, that would meant we would have to troubleshoot our experiment again, checking procedure, set up and what went wrong.

But, because it worked, we would now have to write our data of the experiment and analyse the outcome of said experiment.

Let’s say…

Plants do grow better in coloured light.

We now have to see if our results align with our hypothesis!

As stated earlier, the results determine that the plants do grow better in light. Did you get it wrong? If so, that’s okay! We would have to go back to creating a hypothesis.

If you got it right, good job! It’s time to communicate our results and share with
others.
